Whitbread invests in good customer service for Olympics

Thousands of extra consumers will come into the UK this summer when the Olympic Games are held in London and one company is investing heavily in high-quality customer service beforehand.

Whitbread, which owns brands Premier Inn and Costa, has poured in excess of £1 million into training its staff members.

Three Food and Beverage Skills Academies have been set up in the UK to coach the 35,000 employees at the company.

Chief executive officer of Whitbread Andy Harrison said: "Whitbread is driven by our customers' needs on every occasion."

He said the firm aims to have its staff "providing great quality food and drink and the best customer service".

The three sites where staff members are being trained are located in Manchester, Swindon and Hockley Heath.

Premier Inn was recently awarded the World's Leading Budget Hotel Brand at the 2011 World Travel Awards, which are voted for by travel agents all over the world.
